What "Underfunded" means
"Underfunded" appears when your Credit Card Payment Available is less than what you owe on the card (the absolute value of the account balance). In plain English: you don’t have enough cash set aside to pay your full credit card balance.
Why it happens
- You overspent on a category and the purchase wasn’t fully backed by cash.
- You moved money away from your Credit Card Payment category.
- You’re starting with (or intentionally carrying) pre-existing credit card debt.
- You forgot to fund a spending category before using your credit card.
How to fix it (recommended order)
- Confirm transactions are categorized correctly. If something is in the wrong category, recategorize it.
- Move money from another category to the Credit Card Payment category to cover the shortfall.
- Assign more money directly to the Credit Card Payment category if you have new income available.
What happens if you don’t fix it
If you leave an underfunded card unresolved, the gap represents credit card debt you’ll need to pay off later. The indicator makes that debt visible so you can choose how to handle it.
How it affects your payment category
Your Credit Card Payment Available shows how much cash is reserved to pay your card. When it’s less than your card balance, you can’t pay the full amount — which is why you’ll see the underfunded warning.
